Some of Great Grandads steam engines have come our way. We now have three traction engines and a static steam engine. We decided to fire a couple up.
We ran the WILESCO D405 around the street. The Mamod ran okay, but needs a little love before it can race as well as it did once. I laughed when I saw how bent the steering rod was from over enthusiastic use ( Cousin M! ) thirty odd years ago.
The Wilesco runs very well still, nice and smooth, but much slower ( probably more realistically ) than the others.
We also had the stationary engine with loads of accessories ( a bit like these ) like the hammer and sheet cutter being run by it. But we must remember not to run it indoors without opening the windows !
